What? Where? How?
What kind of leather do you use?
Full grain & top grain leather, which is leather that has the outer most layer of the hide intact. This epidermis layer makes full and top grain leathers the most durable and desirable. Our leathers come from tanneries all over the world but primarily hail from Italy and the USA.
What is "Veg Tan" Leather?
Vegetable Tanned leather, or Veg Tan, is leather that has been tanned by soaking the hides in a plant-based solution. These plants are often native to the area the tannery is situated, and have a high concentration of "tannins", which are naturally occurring acids. Oak bark, spruce bark, and chestnuts are some of the more commonly used ingredients in the Vegetable Tanning process. Veg Tan leather is far more time consuming than other more modernized process' and only accounts for roughly 12% of all leather produced today.
